Remember the whirlwind of going from one child to two? The toddler emotions, the bedtime logistics, the arguments at 2am with your partner, and wondering “Why did no one prepare us for this?!”
We want to make the transition from one to two little ones easier for more families. So Whirl & Wonder’s Second Baby Confidence Course is expanding into neighbouring East London communities (Leyton, Chingford, Wanstead, Forest Gate, Woodford and nearby pockets), to help more parents prepare for life with two little ones and connect them with other expectant 2nd-time parents in their area.

Questions you might have before saying hello
Will training be provided?
Yes, absolutely. We provide a paid onboarding that covers a 1-on-1 curriculum walkthrough with Yvonne and shadowing a complete live 10-hour cohort in Walthamstow. Yvonne will also be on hand to support you during your first course launch so you feel completely confident.
Where will the sessions take place?
Sessions are held in a quiet, welcoming venue within your local East London neighbourhood. We deliberately avoid noisy pub function rooms to ensure a private, comfortable space for open, honest conversation.
When do the sessions run?
Each 3-week course consists of 5 two-hour sessions (10 delivery hours total). These are scheduled on weekday evenings to fit around family bedtimes and working days. We currently run 6 courses per year in each neighbourhood. With rising demand the number of courses per year can be increased. We run no classes during the school holidays.
Do I need to be a midwife or healthcare professional?
No. The Second Baby Confidence Course is not a clinical medical class - it is an emotional, relational, and practical preparation programme with focus on life after baby number two arrives. We welcome qualified doulas, perinatal educators, nurses, health visitors, birth workers, and parenting or family coaches. Your lived experience as a parent of two or more children is just as vital as your professional training.
Will I need to pay for the venue hire?
No, never. Whirl & Wonder sources, confirms, and pays for the venue hire directly - you never have to front venue costs, handle deposits, or deal with invoicing.
Will I need to fund my training or activity materials?
Not a penny. Your onboarding is fully paid, and Whirl & Wonder provides all materials, session outlines, prompts, and pre-printed marketing material. You also receive a dedicated refreshments allowance per course to cover teas, cold drinks, and snacks for the group.
Will I need to find parents to join the course?
Whirl & Wonder manages ticket sales, website listings, payment processing, and parent email communications. To support local community awareness, your role includes grassroots local outreach: hanging pre-printed posters/flyers in neighbourhood spots and sharing approved snippets in local parent WhatsApp or Facebook groups. The more successful the course, the more you will earn.
When and how do I get paid?
You submit a simple invoice to Whirl & Wonder at the end of each completed course block. Your onboarding fee is paid in two milestones: 50% upon completing your shadowing, and 50% after delivering your first cohort.
Will I be employed by Whirl & Wonder?
This is an independent freelance subcontractor role. You invoice Whirl & Wonder upon completing each course, manage your own HMRC tax declarations, and hold valid public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
